Over the past two months, Signals have had the great pleasure of working with a year 5 class known as – Enterprise at Sir Martin Frobisher Academy in Jaywick, creating a short animation about William Shakespeare on a time travel quest.
Digital Core is a 2-year – Paul Hamlyn Foundation funded project, which aims to improve attainment in Maths and Literacy for key stage 2 children through the creation of digital films and games.
Working with animation tutor Emma Curtis and Deputy Head Mr G we used Maths challenges as a way to change the scenes in the animation. William Shakespeare has to solve four Maths challenges throughout the animation. The children developed the scenes and learned how to animate from creating their initial storyboards, to making the characters, props, backgrounds and using the animation software.
